Looking for songs that talk about or portray Tennessee the state (preferably), or it's cities in a not kind light.

The request is not based on anti-Tennessee sentiment, but for a larger project.

Already got:

Steve Earle "Tennessee Blues"
Robbie Fulks "Fuck this Town"
John Hartford "Nobody Eats at Linebaugh's Anymore"
Larry Cordle "Murder on Music Row"

and mentions in John Prine "Crazy as a Loon" and Nina Simone, Mississippi Goddamn

"Tennessee" by Arrested Development? Particularly the bit about "climbed the trees my forefathers hung from" ...

Well, there was a time when Bob Dylan was Stuck Outside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again.

I'm not sure that this song says anything negative about TN though, mostly just a play on words.

"Motel in Memphis" by Old Crow Medicine Show is about MLK's assasination and directly mentions the Crump political machine and lynchings in Memphis.

Greetings from Nashville, Jason & The Scorchers. At least a bit negative.

There's Tennessee, by the Manic Street Preachers (bearing in mind that they'd probably never been to Tennessee at the time they wrote it).

It Gets Worst At Night - Lucero

"Never Going Back to Memphis" by Shemekia Copeland ---which I've never heard but there it is. Actually you could probably use this list as reference and see if any fit your bill

Billy C. Wirtz's "the Tennesee Waffle House Fire" is a Red Sovine-style gem, but you can't probably find it.
