Are there any free support groups for depression/anxiety in the SF Bay Area?

I'm going through a serious bout of depression and anxiety. While dealing with my doc about tweaking my meds it would also be nice to check out a support group. Are there any free or low cost groups? I went to an Emotions Anonymous meeting and found the religious/12-step angle creepy. I'm uninsured and in the East Bay. Throw away email: AnonAnonerton@gmail.com

Some churches could have totally free, and off the grid (no records), support groups. You would not need to be a member, and they are mostly non-religious, although they might meet in a church campus building. Just call around, I guess. Try the Methodists. Good luck.

(This answer reads a little crass, I guess, I don't know how to make it smoother. It's a true answer with all best wishes.)

Are you familiar with Recovery International? They have a good website that describes what they're about and several meetings in the san Francisco Bay Area.

Look into NAMI. I'm sure there's a chapter there and larger chapters usually have more than one support group for depression.

Good luck.

Check out this one: Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance. It looks like they have some groups in the East Bay. I went to a few meetings in the city, but it was 6+ years ago and I don't remember quite what it was like. YMMV anyway.
