Does a stand alone translation tool like this exist?

The Google Translate app is awesome on my Droid 3 Android phone, especially the new conversation mode however it does not have an offline mode. I will be traveling where there is no convenient, fast, or affordable internet or cell service, specifically Cuba. Is there app or stand alone alternative that you know of? I especially like the speech to speech aspect of the conversation mode in google translate. English to Spanish and Spanish to English is what I am looking for.

Best answer: Lonely Planet offline translator

Jibbigo offline translator

Both of those seem to have the feature you're looking for, although neither app gets stellar reviews. Offline speech to speech translating seems like a pretty difficult task though.

Response by poster: Thank you. Just what I was looking for! Ask Metafilter does it again.

I paid $4.99 for the Jibbigo offline translator and it will do just what I need. Thanks again wikipedia brown boy detective!
