Looking for a financial advisor/planner recommendations near Lowell, MA.

I went through a long bout of unemployment where savings were depleted, credit cards were maxed and payments fell behind and it's a giant mess now.

I'm now employed and have money and want to fix things, but I'd like to get professional advice on the best way to do this. We live in Lowell, MA, so looking for recommendations within 30 minutes of there or so.

I don't have a local recommendation, but I've had great experiences with the advice I've received from Charles Schwab (I've moved over my banking and investment over to them). No local branches so basically everything is handled via internet or phone. Their reps are great, knowledgeable, and I get ATM fee rebates so I can get money from any ATM (although I know you weren't asking about the banking side of things).

Anyway, they've been really helpful with financial advice and when you sign up, a free, fairly-in depth consultation is included.
