Trying to connect to the past
I am trying to look up a Korean folk song I had heard in 1950, when in S. Korea during the "police action."
The song I believe was about a guy and a girl and their separation etc and the words sound a bit like this--here is my interpretation of of the language-it might even have been in Japanese!
She ne (nay?) got no yo dough...she ne got no yo dough;
mi na sake [....], she nay got no musa may,
She na got no yo dough
ring a bell, anyone? Name of song, please

Response by poster: I think that is not what I am looking for but I recognized and thus confused the tune...that song, perhaps used as marching tune for one of our division in Korea and is as you note famous folk song.

My dad lives in Seoul and speaks Korean, and he didn't recognize it - neither did his Korean coworkers. They felt the words sounded more Japanese.
