Stompers Replacement

Is there a non-vintage, non-collectible, non-expensive source for small, motorized, toy monster trucks powered by a single AA battery? Think Stompers, but not vintage and $50.

A couple of years ago I did some serious research into them (in the UK we called that type of truck a Trekker) as I wanted some for my kids. I'll have to look again when I get home, but all I managed to find (and I think I'm pretty internet savvy) was a set of four cars on amazon.com with a big plastic track/activity ground (with a skull on it I think).

I'm pretty sure they had wheels made out of foam as opposed to the rubber wheels of the 80's.

Will be following this thread with interest...

DealExtreme has lots of little radio controlled cars and trucks powered by one, two, or three AAs, generally under $15.

They are now being made by Tinco Toys, and were available in Toys'R'Us a few years back - their online store doesn't list them, tho.

Try this guy, who seems to be an enthusiast who resells new Tinco Stompers online.

Best answer: Defiants 4X4s are in a similar vein, they take 2 AAA batteries and are around $7-10 a USD a piece. In other news there is apparently a "Stompers Community" (I didn't go very far down that rabbit hole but it's definitely a thing), so you could check them out for other lines on modern toys.

Response by poster: Following up: the Defiants are exactly, precisely what I was looking for. I'm loving them, my kids are loving them, good times are had by all.
