Good jazz in San Francisco?

Where do I find the really great jazz in San Francisco?
I used to live by the "Now Is" Chicago jazz calendar. Is there anything similar for San Francisco?
What I'd really like is to find a place like Rodan on Tuesday nights with the Parker/Abrams/Herndon lineup.
Please don't refer me to Yoshi's, I checked their calendar and it seems like mostly godawful cheesy expensive stuff.
Any suggestions? Bonus points for anything starting around 10pm tonight. And cheap or free.

I concur wholeheartedly about Club Deluxe for jazz. Try their house cocktail, the Spa Collins.
I have seen some wonderful stuff at the Savannah Jazz Club in the Mission. Unfortunately the food and service are not very good at all, but the place has heart. I think they tend to cater to tour groups, but on the nights I went, that didn't diminish the quality of the show.

I was about to say "Yoshi's in Oakland, what?" until I saw a bunch of GRP fusion acts scheduled in the next few months. If you get a chance to see Ravi Coltrane, it's worth the show, but you're totally right. You have to watch the calendar once in a while and find something worth watching, so you don't have to pay $25 to see some random Velveeta sauce.
I've been invited to quite a few events at Jazz Chez Hanny, a private home venue in Pacific Heights in SF, but haven't managed to go yet.
Otherwise, I keep my eye on SF Jazz, which allowed me to check out the phenomenal Raul Midón recently.
I'll keep my eye on this page. I'm always down for more music.

Check out the San Francisco Jazz Festival, performances are at different venues depending on the artist.
