Mr. Sadtomato and I are going Regina, Saskatchewan for just two nights this weekend. Please tell us where to have the best breakfast and the best lunch on Saturday.

Also, I'm a vegetarian so all suggestions should have at least one veggie option. We are staying at the Travel Lodge on South Albert and we will have a car.

You have fed us well in Victoria and Edmonton. Can't wait to see what Regina holds for us! Thanks Mefites!

Best answer: Fresh & Sweet, on Victoria near Albert, has yummy sandwich and soup lunches during the week, and I hear that they do breakfast on the weekend (apparently red velvet pancakes???). Sweet Bakery (no relation to F&S), on the corner of Broad and College, has really nice baking and would probably be a good place for either breakfast or lunch.

13th Avenue Coffee House has great veggie burgers and while I personally am not a huge fan, many people like their vegetarian rice bowls. I've never been to Green Spot Cafe on Hamilton, but it has a good reputation and is either vegetarian or vegan.

You don't say anything about what type of food you like. Ngoc Anh, on Smith near 11th, has good dim sum and locally famous wor wonton soup. Selam, on Broad, has good Ethiopian food, definitely with vegetarian options. (Don't do the buffet, though.) I haven't been to Newtown Chinese on 11th in a long time, but it used to be excellent and probably still is.

The Cathedral Village Arts Festival will be on next weekend--I'm not sure if there are food stalls at the Saturday street fair, but that might be an option, and regardless it would be fun to check out. I can't seem to think of any places that aren't in the Cathedral area or downtown, but that's pretty convenient to South Albert, so hopefully this helps!
