Notifications for things I shouldn't be able to see

Since about a month ago I've been getting notifications (under the globe icon) about a few friends of mine about postings they've made on various pages. Without fail clicking on them yields "The page you requested was not found". I'm still listed as friends with these people - have they singled me out for partial blocking? Is there some way to avoid getting these notifications for things I can't see?

Are they perhaps posting on the walls of people who you're not connected with, whose privacy settings are such that they keep any outsiders from being able to see them?

I sometimes get that message for posts that have been deleted - is it possible these friends like to delete things not long after writing them?

I've seen this happen in little groups when people all manage to click on/wall post something spammy that spreads virally and later gets removed from facebook entirely. This is the only time when I've seen this happening. Facebook should not be sending you notifications for things that you can't see. If they've blocked you, you shouldn't get notifications as I understand it, this is likely something more prosaic.

I've seen this happen a few times where the problem was in fact that the person was blocked, or restricted from seeing a specific post. So it could actually be that.

Also try going back and clicking on it again later as it could be a bug. I realized a few weeks ago that I got that same message when checking notifications from my phone. However when I got on a computer I could click on it and view it normally.

Of course if this is happening on a computer, then you can just ignore this.
