Dishwasher recommendations please! Two year old Frigidaire just broke (again) and it was as noisy as hell anyway (it was supposed to be a "quiet" model). Wife wants another new one...
What dishwasher do you have that works great? Quiet, reliable, and does a good job with today's low phosphate detergents. Under $700, if possible. Live in US (Denver area) with normal water. Thanks!

I recently splurged on a Bosch dishwasher. It cleans better than any washer I've had before, and is super-efficient. Quiet, too.

I have a Bosch and I love it. Highly recommend. Mine was entry level I am sure -- bought it at Lowes. I've had it for 4-5 years, maybe 6 can't remember, and no problems. It's very quiet.

We also have a Bosch, and not an expensive one either. The location of the silverware basket sucks (in the back, so you can't get to it with the bottom rack inside the washer) but otherwise it's incredibly quiet and cleans well.

We chose Samsung over Bosch. Solid, quiet, a bit cheaper and it has a drying option in case you don't want to put sheeting agent in with your dishes. It's great to load and washes well.

I was very sad to leave my Bosch behind when I sold my last house.

Splurge on the Bosch, you won't regret it. Get one with the sanitize mode, it's amazing what you can clean in a dishwasher.

I've had my mid-level Bosch for about 6 years and love it.

Bosch, we got ours at Sears Outlet. It was about 40% off full price at had a dent in the back of the stainless interior. Dent is/was just cosmetic and doesn't affect the dishwasher function at all. We don't even rinse and it still gets the dishes sparkling. And it is very quiet.

I'll break the pattern--I love my Fisher-Paykel dish drawers. It's not completely silent but it's very quite and I like the flexibility of being able to run just a small load.

Ten years ago (at least!) my parents bought a top-range Bosch on closeout. Very quiet. Five years ago, when the Kenmore (made by GE) that came with our house died we bought a just barely above entry-level Bosch. Not quite as quiet as Mum's, but certainly quiet enough to carry on a conversation in the kitchen while it's running. We scrape the worst of the crud off plates and dishes, but don't rinse. Everything comes out clean -- we don't use a sheeting agent or even (usually) the drying cycle, although I make an exception for the fine glassware. (We live in MI, which has been on low-phosphate detergents for a couple of decades.)

Sort of a Bosch endorsement. I have one, it gets stuff clean, and it is fairly quiet. But check out the rack configurations of all the Bosch models before you buy one. I hate the way the dishes are forced to be organized by all the differing types of wires sticking up in mine. Only certain dishes, plates, glasses, etc. can go in certain areas. Maybe the 'wasted space' is what makes it clean better - I don't know. But is is annoying to me.

(Of course if I still had even the tiniest portion of grey matter synching with my eyes, fingers and intentions, I would have told you that it was a KitchenAid machine, not a Samsung, that we preferred over all other options. Probably you've already bought a Bosch and are now cursing because it's so quiet that you can hear the compost fermenting in its bin. Never mind.)
