My kingdom for a fuse puller.

Think my central AC has blown a fuse but I have no fuse puller--hardware store out. Is there some other tool I could use or should I wait til I can get one? It is New Orleans and real hot.

You can use any plastic/rubber handled pliers to do it.

Rubber-handled metal pliers? Score.

Please let us know whether you are still alive. Granted, you should be, but... I hope you turned off the fuse panel's upstream power source just as a precaution.

Seconding Juffo - turn off the main breaker before you swap the fuse. Otherwise sparks, fire, and not-so-hilarity may ensue.

If he has has one time use fuses, there's probably no main breaker.
