maxi-dress me

please send me your favorite maxi dresses (i guess that's not really a question).

my favorite thing to wear during the summer is a maxi dress and sandals. its a comfy, easy, and pretty uniform. unfortunately, i only have a few, and summer is coming up.
so, where can i buy nice and affordable long dresses online? in NYC?
i hate wearing polyester. cotton is preferred.

Ok, I'm kind of cheap, so sometimes I watch for things to go on sale/out of style at Old Navy (link is to maxi dresses). The quality is unpredictable, but if you watch for sales, sometimes the price is so low that you're willing to gamble. This only works when The Powers That Be behind Old Navy/Gap/Banana Republic decide that maxi dresses are "in".

Swell and ModCloth allow you to sort for maxi-dresses by price (as recommended in this comment by gatorae).

Gypsy05 is my go-to for long, simple, floaty cotton styles in all sorts of lovely colours.
