Yup, another therapist request.

Can anyone direct me to a good therapist in Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito, or Richmond, California?

I'm not in any sort of crisis but do have a lot of the usual grown-up sorts of life changes going on these days (combining households with my honey, taking care of aging and clinically depressed parents, etc) and don't want to lay it all on my partner.

Female, please. 12-step-friendly would be a bonus, but isn't required. Bonus if they don't remind me of my boomer parents.

North Oakland would be a stretch, but possible.

These three were recommended to me mainly for group therapy, but I think they also do one-on-one work, and have secondary offices in the East Bay:

I've heard really good things about the San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy, which is in North Oakland (Rockridge).

Kate White is fantastic, and has weekend appointments.

I'd recommend Diane Gerstler in North Berkeley (just off of University and MLK). Her number is (510)869-3790 and I know she at least takes Blue Cross insurance (not sure about other plans).

Dr. Shawn Corne in Albany (her office is at Solano & San Pablo) is wonderful, or was for me. Much of what I saw her for involved managing the stress of grown-up life things like you're talking about, and I liked that she was a good mix of compassionate/supportive and practical/direct. She takes many forms of insurance.
