Help me find a good neurosurgeon in New York City?
Does anyone have personal experience with a neurosurgeon in New York City whom you would recommend? No super-picky requirements; I'm just looking for a doctor who knows his or her stuff (obviously) and who takes the time to hear a patient out. Insurance is Aetna, but I'll check into coverage of course. Thanks!

Actually..are you sure you're at the neuroSURGERY point yet and not just a neurologist? If you just need a neurologist, I have a great one of those as well.

Response by poster: spicynuts, I'm not asking for myself, and I'm not sure about the answer to your question. I know I'm looking for someone who can check out my friend and probably order an MRI, for starters. Definitely at diagnostic stage here, not surgery, so maybe a neurologist would be what he needs? He was referred by GP to a neurosurgeon who seemed kinda terrible, so I'm looking for an alternative to (and basing my question off) that. If you have another recommendation, I'd follow up on that too, and, hey, it might help future askers. Thanks for your help!

Ok then you should start with a neurologist. Why didn't the GP order the MRI? A good neurologist in Brooklyn:
