iPodfilter: Is there a voice recorder for iPod mini? Googling seems to denote that there's no firmware support for any recorder on iPod mini.. but I want to conduct interviews with the little silver bugger! Please help!

i don't know anything about the mini, but to state the obvious, if it doesn't have a microphone built-in, or some ability to record from a line-in, you're probably out of luck.

now i'll take the opportunity to do my bi-monthly plug of the muvo fm tx...great mp3 player with built-in voice recorder, though no line-in so it wouldn't work if you needed good-quality recordings.

sorry for the most-likely unhelpful answer

While not officially supporting the Mini yet, iPod Linux enables hi-fi recording capability on iPods other than the Shuffle. Once it's officially released (I'm not sure when, though), you should be able to install it and load it when you need it (it doesn't overwrite the original firmware, thankfully).

Response by poster: thanx zsazsa. I don't think I'll risk it with my baby yet ;)

Best answer: I work at my local Apple Store, and people come in with this question a few times a week. There just aren't any voice-recorders on the market for the iPod Mini. (Thought Belkin and some other manufacturers make them for the full-sized model.)

Aren't the existing recorders really lo-fi to begin with?

The IPODLINUX voice recorder can record at 96mhz.
