Please can someone just take my stuff already

Help me find a place to donate my stuff!

I'm moving in a few weeks and would love to unload some clothing that has gone unworn for years, as well as kitchen supplies and maybe some furniture. However, I do not want to donate to any organization that has homophobic/anti-choice/&c beliefs which are strongly offensive to me, such as the horrible Salvation Army.

I'd like a reasonably local place, so anywhere in actual Manhattan is a plus - let's say below 96th street just for funsies. It would also be helpful if they do pick-ups for large furniture items, but that's not a dealbreaker. And finally, I'd like the kind of place that takes everything I drop off, and doesn't pick and choose and leave me with leftovers.

Please don't make me go to Brooklyn.

Response by poster: I thought about goodwill but they don't take furniture, alas.

OMG HOUSING WORKS. The really sad thing is that I walk past that store every single day. I fail at situational awareness.

I think Housing Works may even come and pick stuff up. When I've taken stuff there...they seem to take anything, which is great.

The Vietnam Veterans of America also pick stuff up. But only on certain days. You can call them to see if they're doing Manhattan pickups. I'm not sure about their politics, but I'm sure it's not as conservative as the Salvation Army.

City Opera Thrift Shop? Free pick-ups available.

You could also list your things on your local Freecycle network.
The Freecycle site is notoriously slow to load sometimes. Apologies in advance.

Response by poster: Yeah, I love the concept of Freecycle in theory but it's not a one-stop, everything-goes kind of deal, which is really what I need the most.

Response by poster: Thrilling update: Goodwill has convenient bins in which you can leave all your unwanted stuff without any unnecessary human interaction!
