Are there archives of Star Search available?

A friend years ago had an old VHS tape of a guy we called "The Ass" who did a sort of pumped up cover of "Eleanor Rigby" on Star Search. He was awful. Beyond awful. However, this tape has been lost but I want to see if I can find this footage again.

Do you have an approximate date of the performance? Also, I'm going to assume you've tried Youtube, but there is this...

A Japanese band covering the song.

If you live in NYC the Museum of Television and Radio is supposed to have a record of every TV that's aired. Although that may just be an urban myth.

Response by poster: I have tried You Tube and while the video is amazing, it's not what I'm looking for. No idea of the date.

Museum of TV and Radio, aka the Paley Center doesn't have close to a copy of every show--they have a big collection, but tend not to have syndicated materials. IMDB has a complete cast list.
