Absorption refrigeration: what ever happened to that TED guy with the fridge that heated on a campfire?

This guy (Adam Grosser) did a TED talk in 1997 about a rechargeable refrigeration unit ideal for the developing world. It was going to cost $25-$40 each. The 3min talk is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSdXqmnNCp0
But I can't find any more info, just blogs pointing to the talk itself.
What happened?

I suspect the complexity of the device itself was its downfall. Also, the price of solar powered refrigeration is now really low.

Obligatory semi-related link, feel free to flag. This is not a new concept.
