Stream PC -> Tivo

How can I stream video from a PC to a Tivo cable box?

I would love to spend days figuring this out, but I want ths working by tomorrow. So I'm hoping somebody can give me a headstart.

I have a Tivo DVR and cable box provided by Grande Cable. It's supposed to be able to stream things from youtube and other internet sites, although I've never done that yet. Can I set my PC as a media server, and stream to the Tivo from there?

I run Linux on the PC, but I'm open to other options. I'd like to stream 720p video. The Tivo is on wireless-N, the PC is hardwired.

We just put the PC on a different input on the TV and watch from there.

Best answer: pyTivo used to handle this, but I haven't been a Tivo user for awhile.

I haven't used this, but you seem to be able to share videos from your computer with Tivo over your network, see here -- the Tivo Desktop software seems to only exist for Mac OS and Windows, however.

Best answer: PyTivo does this very well. Using it right now in fact.

Response by poster: Wow, pyTivo was stupidly easy to get going, and worked perfectly. Thanks everybody!
