speeding up quicktime videos

Is there a way to adjust the speed and pitch of a Quicktime (.MOV) video file, while keeping the video portion synched and viewable?

I sometimes listen to audio books at higher speeds, with the pitch adjusted to keep them from sound like the Chipmunks. I've been watching some video tutorials lately and I'd like to be able to do the same with them. Any ideas?

Best answer: If you have QuickTime 7, open A/V controls from the menu and there's a nice "Playback Speed" slider that does what you want apart from the pitch adjustment. I don't think older versions support it.

Best answer: Actually, Quicktime 7's "Playback Speed" control does exactly what xulu wants, normalizing the pitch while speeding up the video and sound. "Whatever xulu wants, xulu gets..."

Response by poster: Excellent answers! The Quicktime 7 beta does do exactly what I was asking for. I'm already way ahead of where I thought I'd be with the tutorials. I'm amazed. I fully expected to find that what I was looking for would not be available. Instead, I got just the answer(s) I was looking for, in under an hour. Thanks!
