what is this skill set- career matching database? It's one where you select your most prominent skills, and it tells you some matching careers, and also gives you some descriptions of exactly what they do. There are six areas of skills that you have to input.

my career counselor at school told me about this, and I've used it for a while. I stopped for a couple of months, and now can't remember what it's called!

Could it be RIASEC?

I'd have guessed RIASEC too from what you write.

The Strong Interest Inventory is a career counseling tool based on RIASEC.

Are you looking for the actual database of careers as well as the questionnaire that gives you your ranked skill areas? I posted this comment a while back; it has information about O*NET, the US Department of Labor's career info database. It, like the other assessments mentioned above, is based on the career choice theories of John Holland.
