Lightweight project managment

I manage a team of developers. Usually the teams are quite small (1-2 people) and a lot of the projects are 1-2 weeks in duration. most of the tools I have found to manage projects seem to be intended for larger teams and longer projects. I am looking for tools that will help me manage my team better.

Look at Trello. It's not process heavy at all, so you pretty much have to invent your own, but if you use a kanban or scrum style, it fits quite neatly. I've been using it to manage data for my startup in place of Rally, which I normally use but find a little too labor intensive for small teams. If you need a little more structure than Trello, I'd look to Rally next. Trello is free (at the moment, no idea on future plans) and Rally is inexpensive for small teams.

What problems are you having, exactly? It's rather difficult to answer this question with no idea at all of the actual project management challenges you're facing.

I was about to suggest Asana, so I'll second jchaw. Even my least technologic coworkers have adopted it with ease. It's really dead simple to use for most styles of project management.

Agile Zen is another great, lightweight kanban style issue tracker.

Asana is horrendous, please don't inflict that on your team.

I was going to say Trello.

We use Asana.

In my experience, the search for a tool for project management means a team or project is either too big to effectively communicate details or isn't talking as much as they should.
