Attacks on Chinese people in Africa

Can anyone help find this article I'm thinking of?
The article is set in Africa. (I'm almost positive it's South Africa, but I could be wrong) Two Asian couples, possibly Chinese, have their apartment broken into and endure hours of torture. At some point in the article they strip naked and one of them jumps out the window, breaking their legs(?) (I might be imagining the window jumping, though I'm pretty sure one of them breaks their legs).
I would think that the specific details of the article would make it easy to locate, but google searches have turned up nothing.

Perhaps this story of three Sri Lankan job-seekers in Malaysia, tortured in a "black room" for three days, before two escaped in the way you describe?
