Name-that-old-video-game, part the Nth

Help me remember a video game from my youth, part the Nth.

The post on the blue about kusoge games reminded me of this.

At some point in the late 80s, early 90s, my folks bought a new computer which had this game loaded onto it. It had a sort of Indiana Jones theme, some adventurer in a jungle, presumably questing after some treasure left by an ancient civilization. I say presumably, because the game didn't seem to have any instructions or storyline to set any kind of context whatsoever. You had to just mash keys until something worked.

It was a side-scroller, and the very first thing you had to do was clamber up a cliff. Needless to say, I didn't get very far playing this game.

What the hell game was it??

Sounds like Pitfall!. First appeared on Atari, then on Commodore 64 and Apple ][ and others. You can play it online here.

Best answer: This sounds suspiciously like Congo Bongo. There's a screenshot of the cliff-climbing sequence in the Wikipedia article.
