Need a battery operated security (nannycam) camera recommendation.

My work is looking to monitor an area which has had some theft lately. It's sensitive, so we'd like to deploy some small, battery operated cameras to monitor the area where the theft is taking place.

I did a bit of research and this thing looks close to what we'd like.

I'm fine with either local recording to flash memory or wireless streaming. The big thing is BATTERY OPERATED. Either rechargable or otherwise, but a battery pack is a must. No POE either, because this will be in the middle of an aisle with no ports anywhere nearby.

Anybody have any ideas or experience with this?

PS I did search Ask, but almost all the answers I'm looking for are years old or don't have the specific "no external power needed" bit.

For ease of use get a all-in-one flash recorder. No moving parts and less variables that can go wrong. However, if you fear that your suspect will discover the camera, it's best to have the camera send the signal wirelessly to a hidden/secure computer.

There are several good strategies for hiding the camera;

1) Believe it or not, cameras in plain sight are hardly ever seen. Placing a camera in the ceiling is only seen by someone looking for a camera.

2) There are many ceiling mounted cameras that look like smoke detectors. Nobody is going to see that.

3) The cost-efficient way to do it is to simply buy a camera/ flash recorder and hide it in something. Simply cutting a small hole in a cardboard box and installing it there is easy and very effective.

Whichever solution you go with, get one with motion-sensor recording. Saves a whole bunch of time looking through your footage.

Oh--and about the batteries--just get one that advertises a battery that will last twice as long as you need it to last. You're going to smack your forehead if it's the battery that goes out in a sting.
