Secret Santa help: My work does Secret Santa every year (small group of 8 people). The limit is $25 I have no time during normal business hours so I have to be able to pick this up before 10am or after 8pm before Thursday the 23rd. My co-worker likes musicals, Firefly, and is gluten free. Thoughts? I'm local to NYC.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog combines Firefly (Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion) and musicals.

Yeah, if they like musicals and Firefly, they'll probably love Dr. Horrible. Although they might own it already.

Otherwise, drop by your local comic shop and ask which Firefly book isn't terrible. Or maybe someone here can enlighten.

Kees chocolate (soho) says it opens at 9am. They are by far the finest chocolate in the city, which is why you will only be able to afford to get about 10 truffles for you co-worker.

How about Trader Joe's? Lots of stuff that's gluten free there. Gift card there? They close at 9pm.

Best answer: I'm gluten free too and I would love a gift certificate to a specialized GF bakery. Google should be able to point you to one near you.

Best answer: there's tu lu's bakery and babycakes in the city that would be great. Babycakes is vegan, tu lu's is not. Babycakes also has some cookbooks

Best answer: There is a gluten-free bakery in the east village called Tu-Lu's. Their cookies are awesome! A gift certificate there might be a good choice. They are open until 10PM.

Shephard's Tale is a good standalone comic for Firefly. It's a great companion for the series, since it fills in some the backstory for one of the most enigmatic characters.
