What do I use to clean kool aid from carpets?

So, moving out of my old apartment. Been in there ~3 years. Some rather large kool-aid stains have been there, oh, 2 years. So, what do I use to make the carpet white again?

Thank you.

Start with a soap and water detergent mix. Saturate with water, blot, saturate, blot, saturate with detergent mix, blot, saturate with water. And so on.

If that doesn't make a dent, so to speak, try hydrogen peroxide with the same procedure: saturate, blot, saturate, blot, etc. Get the big bottle (or several small ones) from the supermarket, and be liberal with it.

Carpet cleaning companies (like the Stainmasters of the world) add WD40 to their cleaning solutions, and swear by the stuff. You could try this: spray, blot, spray, blot, etc. (The WD40 will eventually evaporate away so you don't have to worry about having to clean it up in turn.)

I've had success with hydrogen peroxide to lift things like wine stains with water soluble components (but when the stains were new, which might make a difference).

WD40 is my go-to solution for grease and oil based stains as well as adhesive residues. But it might help with your problem, and you have nothing to lose by trying it if the peroxide doesn't work.

(Petroleum jelly is very useful for things like candle wax, but this is a different problem.)

Good luck!

The Carpet and Rug Institute has a guide for dealing with all types of stains, including Kool-Aid on their Spot Solver page.

They will definitely be the best resource. When I was in the industry, I directed many clients to them for all things cleaning related.

Don't try using the opposite color Kool Aid. It doesn't work.

I've gotten up stuff with Spot Shot that I didn't think would EVER come out.

They use to advertise this stuff called DD7 (Didi seven? Some such spelling). It was a depigmentator. It removed Kool-aid from a white rug and even old oil paints.

Try some OxiClean. I got blue marker out of a beige rug and blood off a beige chair cushion.
