Ipad recommendations needed for a platform/adventure game lover!

I am a casual gamer. In the past I have had access to all manner of gaming systems, but at the moment I have an iPad.

I like games with exciting or funny stories, imaginative gameplay, and secret hidden things. I prefer open games that allow some exploration. I also enjoy 2-player cooperative games (not enough of these!) I do not generally love shooting and blood.

The App store seems rife with casual, addictive, simple games (favorites have been Drop7 & Tetris). I have tried World of Goo and Mirror's Edge, and they were okay. I love Catan and Carcassonne in real life, not so much on screen.

Are there any more complex, thoughtful, or innovative games for the iPad that fit my criteria? I am willing to pay.

Here are my 5-star video games:

Toejam & Earl
Spyro the Dragon (the first three iterations)
Psychonauts
Final Fantasy VII (almost the only RPG I've ever enjoyed, apart from Puzzlequest)
Little Big Planet
Flower

And 4-stars:

Crash Bandicoot
The Twilight Princess
Resident Evil 5 (I know! But I liked that I could play it as a bonding experience with my little sister)
Braid
Portal 1 & 2 (I can become easily frustrated with puzzles, but I found this so exciting, different, and funny!)

I have said this more than once on here, and I think it sort of sounds silly, but Harry Potter Lego is fun - exploring, puzzles, hidden things, can be played casually.

Broken Sword: Director's Cut, older game that was remastered and tweaked for iDevices. I haven't played it on an iPad (link goes to the HD iPad version), but it was great on the iPhone.

The remastered Monkey Island games jeather mentioned are also well worth checking out.

Final Fantasy III? That was a pretty darned solid game on the NES/Famicom, and then Square Enix went and translated it for the 3D remake they put on the iPhone/iPad. Not as story-driven as FF7 but better gameplay IMO.

Response by poster: Thanks, all! I will mark best answers when I play some of these.

We have just downloaded Aquaria, which so far seems to fit the bill, although it's hard for me to tell since my husband won't let me have a turn :)
