What are some interesting places to eat in Chicago's south side?

Help me plan a food tour of Chicago's south side by bicycle. I'd like to make a little loop starting and ending in Woodlawn, covering < 50 mi and stopping several times to eat small, interesting things. Can you suggest some good destinations and routes? Note that we'll be five sweaty college kids in funny clothes, with wallets to match, so err on the side of "hole in the wall."

Ride up the lakefront to Chinatown. Go to the new hotness (in more than one way) Lao Hunan. Ride down Archer to Bridgeport. Go to Pleasant House Bakery, because I love their savory pies and treats. Ride up to 25th and Whipple to La Chaparrita and get some tacos. You're right near a lot more nifty Mexican food, so bike around Pilsen and get you some Korean chicken wings. What, you say, you want more Mexican? Ride down to Archer Heights and go to my favorite restaurant in the universe, Birrieria Zaragoza for some amazing goat.
...

Don't neglect finishing with some southside BBQ at Uncle John's. And look at the list of LTHForum Great Neighborhood Restaurants for more.

Sandmanwv's suggestions are also great.

I was going to say Original Rainbow Cone, but they're closed until spring.

You might also consider asking on Chowhound. We've gotten great advice from those boards in the past.

I used to live around the corner from Birreria Reyes de Ocotlan between Blue Island and Racine on 18th. Very specific regional Mexican goat barbacoa. Fucking amazing Mexican street-style food, and I'm from Texas.

B'Gabs is a raw vegan place, kinda neat.

Soul Vegetarian! Vegan soul food, total hole in the wall, half the people there will probably be wearing dashikis. (I haven't ever biked in Chicago, so I can't say much about how bike-friendly the place is, but it's exactly the kind of place I'd want to go on such a tour.)
