Macs and Samsung TA550 - fuzzy image

Hi Everyone I have a Macbook Air with Thunderbolt (mid 2011) and a Mac Mini 3.1. Can anyone help me with the correct display settings for a Samsung TA550? I have searched - to no avail. Also trying out SwitchResX. What bugs me is that XP of all things seems to work properly with the display. What gives? Thanks! BB

What are the display settings when you use XP?

It's a 1920x1080 monitor.

Response by poster: XP is at 1920 by 1080 and I tweaked the display adaptor settings. Using Syncmaster TA_550 analog drivers

Yeah, should be 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz in Displays preferences. Are you using Mini Displayport -> VGA adapter or MDP -> HDMI adapter?

What is a Mac Mini 3.1? In system prefs > display, it should automatically detect that unless you've got a bad adapter.

Response by poster: The Mini Mac default display looked very grainy. Text under the icons are not smooth. at the moment it is at 1280 by 1024. Great, but far too large.

So does it not work if you manually change the resolution to the monitor's native resolution? Is the native resolution not listed? Does the native resolution just look bad?

Response by poster: Native is listed - but looks bad.

I have a Samsung 2333T (1920x1080) connected to my MacBook Pro. Under System Prefs -> Display, the proper resolution for the monitor is (confusingly) labeled "1080p".
