Tattoo artist recommendations in southern California/Los Angeles

Can you help me find a tattoo artist in the Los Angeles area?

I've been wanting a (specific) tattoo for a few years, and I have decided that now is the time to do it. However, this will be my first tattoo, and I'm not sure how to pick the best artist for the job.

I'm in Pasadena, but am willing to go pretty much anywhere in the Los Angeles area to do this. The tattoo is just a line of text, so nothing too complicated. Ideally, the artist would have previous text tattoos in his or her portfolio.

Thank you!

Kim Durham at Brewery Ink. She's great.

Shogun Tattoo is in Pasadena and I had a great experience there with Andrew. All of their artists have great reputations though.

My sister lives in LA and has several text-y tattoos. She says:

"depends on the type of text (s)he's looking for, but Studio City Tattoo and True Tattoo in Hollywood both are pretty great places. At True Tattoo, Jeff Page has very pretty traditional script and Slim at Studio City tattoo does more cholo/graffiti inspired work."

Seconding Kim Durham, big-time. She did a fabulous line tattoo for me a few years back. She also occasionally works out of Prix in WeHo, which is where I saw her.
