Quick, remind me about... I forget!

I need a reminder/task desktop (mac) AND iphone (iOS 5, but not a 4S) capable application. It will be for work and for play. Help!

Obviously, it should sync between the iphone and the mac. It should be pretty easy to schedule repeated tasks (daily or even a few times a day) and one-off tasks like calling the dentist. Free is better, but I'll consider paying. I use Google Calendar, and I wouldn't MIND if I could incorporate the two, but I would really prefer a desktop application connected to my iphone.

Thanks in advance!

I really love Notifyme, but the desktop app price is really steep at $16.

I've been very happy using Toodledo for the past 6 months with my iPad, Mac and PC. All platforms sync with each other. You have to pay for the iPhone/iPad app, but it's a free for the web access.

Check out Remember The Milk.

It has about a million ways to interface and is quite useful.

Is there a reason why iCal wouldn't work for you?

Response by poster: Just to be clear, I'd rather not go to a website. I'd rather have a desktop application. Thanks so far!

Most of the things would work fine in iCal, but task management (cloud sync) and desktop app say Wunderlist to me. Free, too.

Full disclosure, this is my own app, but you could use Good Todo in that way. Just download Fluid and turn the Good Todo website into a desktop app.

iPhone and iPad apps also available and sync nicely with the Web app.

There are recurring tasks available, but they're not timed (everything goes by the day) and the quickest frequency is once a day. Price is three bucks a month after the trial period. MeMail me if you have any questions..

Why not just use iCal on Lion and Reminders on the iphone. They sync together.

Response by poster: The reason I would prefer not to use iCal or just Google Calendar itself is because I have MANY calendars which create a very visibly busy day. Have 5+ reminders/tasks shoved in there wouldn't be ideal. And it's likely I would mix something up.

Being able to time and repeat my tasks is really important to me. It doesn't look like I can do this with Wunderlist. Too bad, too, because it's nice, otherwise. Thanks again!

So... it's not a cheap solution, but I'm a huge fan of Things - $10 for the iPhone version and $50 for the Mac. So, pretty pricey compared to, say, free, or the usual $1.99 iPhone options. But it'll do repetition in all kinds of ways; you can pre-schedule tasks or even have them auto-recreate x days/weeks/months after you complete them. It doesn't, however, look like you can have tasks repeat within a day; the shortest time period it does is daily. Mine reminds me about my student loan and rent payments each month, for example, but I don't come close to using all the features. The iPhone and Mac versions also sync up over wifi, with cloud-based sync Coming Soon. Expensive but powerful.
