Is there some sort of meta-resource for defunct design sites such as k10k, swanky.org, or cyborganic gardens?

... or razorfish, or glassdog, etc. Before they became divisions of huge companies or personal blogs or simply gone they were the sites to go to to be inspired and learn new coding tricks. Is there no collective history of such places?

I occasionally experience bouts of web-nostalgia, and even though the last time I visited Kaliber10000 I was struck by how dated it's "pixelly-goodness" felt, the fact that it's now totally gone feels somehow momentous. There are (or were) sites dedicated to the most trivial of 4chan memes and forum flamewars - has no one created a monument to these web pioneers?

Ghost Sites of the Web comes to mind - but it hasn't itself been updated since 2008 -

I myself get nostalgic for old websites too :-)

You can browse older versions of many sites going back quite a few years using the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. Here is k10k for example. The blue blobs are captures of the site on particular dates. You can select years on the timeline at the top to jump back even further. :-)

Unfortunately the Internet Archive Wayback Machine is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance but they should be back up and running tomorrow.
