If we don't pick a wedding location soon, I'm eloping in Vegas

We're getting married next June and want a beach wedding in Florida. We're looking in the general Cocoa Beach area and we're having a hard time picking the perfect beach. The wedding planner keeps trying to talk us into a beach we're not 100% in love with. We need help picking the perfect beach. Have you had a beach wedding in the Cocoa Beach area? Which beaches should we consider? We don't want something terribly crowded and touristy.

Can you not go down there and find the perfect beach before the wedding?

Response by poster: We're in Florida now. We're just stuck when it comes to picking a location. For example, we found one beach we liked but it doesn't have bathrooms. We're just needing feedback from folks who know the area well and/or have had their wedding here.

If you are having a smallish reception too, then I think the Pelican Beach Clubhouse in Satellite Beach is a nice option. It's only about 20 minutes south of Cocoa Beach.

+1 for Amelia Island for a beautiful on Florida's east coast, about 3.5 hours north of Cocoa Beach. Not terribly touristy, but plenty of fun things to do (horseback riding on the beach, dolphin watching, good restaurants, a nice downtown with some cute shops, etc). My husband and I spent a wonderful anniversary weekend their this year and found it to be very relaxing and romantic, and the beach is picture perfect.

Fort Pierce is also lovely, albeit a bit more "remote" feeling (not much going on, besides beach activities). But the beach is beautiful, and it is only 1.5 hours from Cocoa Beach. Vero Beach (just a bit north of Fort Pierce) is also nice. Good luck and happy wedding planning!

We got married at the 16th St South park. Very nice, few to no passer'by's (I was busy getting hitched and didn't really notice) and I think there are bathrooms. Of course, we had the reception elsewhere, so this may not work for you.

The Pelican Beach area mentioned above is also nice.

Good luck.
