I need a new hairstyle... What could I do with this face shape, and thick hair?

I like a clean-cut look, and professional if possible...

The lighting on your picture is very poor and it's a bit hard to tell – are you looking for male or female hairstyles?

Well, your face shape is pretty round...some googling suggests that famous men with round face shapes are Jack Black and Elijah Wood. I would not recommend that any person alive try to reproduce any of Jack Black's awful hairstyles, but Elijah Wood seems to be doing OK. What about something like this?

What I do when I'm planning to get a haircut is I look for various hairstyles on celebrities. I have a lot more options, though, since I'm a girl, and Hollywood pays more attention to women's hair than to men's. But definitely go poke around with some google image searches.

The best advice I can give you, though, is to go to an actual stylist. A trip to the SuperCuts in the mall isn't going to do anything good for anyone. If you go see someone who styles hair for a living, you can ask them to recommend cuts that suit your hair type and face shape. Some of the best cuts I've ever gotten have resulted from my going in (again, to a trusted hair stylist) and saying, "I don't have any idea how I want my hair, I just know I want it shorter and different. Do whatever you think will look good."

Sorry, sizzil24, I wanted to err on the side of caution. In that case, I have no advice to contribute and will have to second phunniemee: don't be afraid to spend money on a decent haircut. After all, you'll wear it every single day, and the difference can be quite obvious to most.

Your first order of business should be to find a good stylist. He or she is a professional at determining what styles would suit a person's face, hair, and lifestyle.

The best way to find a good stylist is to ask. Ask people you know (who have good looking haircuts) who they use. If you see a stranger whose haircut suits them well, ask. Unless you are threatening in either your manner or your physical presence, I expect they'll be flattered that you have asked.

Once you find a good stylist and make an appointment, show up a bit early. Use your wait time to flip through the hairstyle books and magazines they have. Make note of the styles you like, then show them to the stylist as ideas about what you might want to try.

You say professional, but what profession? If it were me, I would lose the product and get it cut short. Real short. Look not only at celebrities ,but also at famous and successful people in your industry.
