and then a friend asked if it was "Radar Rat Race" for the VIC 20 and then I had *THAT* going through my head

What is this snippet of computer game music that I'm remembering? (YouTube link of me singing it inside)

Got this stuck in my head yesterday and I can't figure out where it's from.

This is how I remember it (it wasn't, like, the melody of a grand operatic soundtrack - it was beep-beep-beep-be-be-be-beep-beep-beep).

It's not new, as I haven't really played any computer games in years.

Can you help me, oh hive mind?

it's sounds vaguely zelda-y, but it's not the theme song.

Any chance it's the Zelda Overworld theme? The tune is different, but some of the rhythms sound similar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpEzYEoV9qY

This is pure pop-in-head intuition, but... Aero the Acro Bat?

On youtubing... probably not.

Can you remember what platform it might have been for? The PC? Commodore 64? A game console of some kind?

Response by poster: Now that I think about it, it *might* be from the Remote Control computer game (the DOS version, not the NES version). I can't find a link to any of the sound effects though.

It would've been during an intro screen to whatever game it was, not something that played while the actual game was going on.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the intro music for Remote Control, which is, shall we say, available through certain channels online. For one thing the theme only plays once rather than repeating. For another it doesn't sound anything like the YouTube clip.

Damn you for bringing that into my mind! Hahah... I KNOW I have heard it before. The thing that came to mind was the ending of a gameshow game like Family Feud on Apple II+ (green screen and everything). Something in that genre.... Off to youtube...

Here are some games I remember playing on that old Apple: Family Feud, Jeopardy, Classic Concentration, Press Your Luck, Summer Games, Winter Games, etc. I think it was definitely the closing screen or a high score screen...not the theme music.

Response by poster: It was on a choosing screen, I think. There was a little da-da-da-da music on the screen preceding it.

Might have been from the DOS version of Win, Lose or Draw?

Win, Lose or Draw could be it too...I played that a lot as well.

I checked the DOS version of Win, Lose, or Draw and it's not that either.

The first thing that jumped to my head was the Cup Presentation music from Mario Kart 64. But having just seen your beep-beep comment, this may be too orchestral.

9:16 of this: Family Feud

Response by poster: Thorny > yeah, that's it! I don't ever remember playing Family Feud, though....weird...

It might have been used on other Sharedata games at the end too...
