Lower the resolution on a Xoom tablet - how?

How can I decrease the resolution of my Xoom (Android, Honeycomb) tablet?

I am trying to hook it up to a beamer -- I have the HDMI > VGA converter but the image still does not show up because, apparently, the resolution is too high on the tablet.

Is there any work-around? Unfortunately there are only beamers at this facility and I'm eager to present via my tablet for a bunch of reasons.

Thanks a lot!

Perhaps you could run a VNC server on your tablet, and then run a VNC client on some other device connected to the "beamer"(?).

Many projectors out there in the real world can't do higher than 1028x768. In my experience, many = most.
