How to move automatically emails to a folder

Outlook filter: is there a way of creating a rule so that every message that becomes older than two weeks get moved from my inbox to another folder?

I've tried making a rule but there doesn't seem to be an option which says "move emails to xx folder after two weeks of date of email".

I tried auto archive but that doesn't seem to work, or doesn't seem to do the job. Is archiving simply moving, or moving AND compressing?

The reason I'm doing this is to keep the inbox to a manageable size. I've ditched the different folders for different projects etc, and now just move everything into a "Vault" folder. With Outlook 2010 it's easier to find stuff and to group it via conversation, so all this manual sorting isn't so necessary as it was.

And while we're at it, any other good tips for Outlook that you couldn't live without?

Auto archive will move messages older than X weeks/days to a folder that you can specify. I don't believe there's much compression, as my work Archive folder is over a 200MB now (after 4 years of being there).

You access your archive folder on the left side of the screen under Inbox/Sent/Deleted. However, the archive folder will look just like your "current" Inbox/Sent/Deleted/etc. It essentially looks like a snapshot of Outlook at the time when mail was archived.

I don't have Outlook handy, so I can't walk you through the exact steps, but I have it set up to do exactly what you want on my work computer, so it absolutely is possible. What you want to do is set it to auto archive every day, archiving only those items that are greater than 14 days old. It doesn't compress at all that I know of.

As kuanes mentions, you have to specify where to archive before Outlook will archive for you - I believe the setting for this is in the Tools menu, but if you check the help menu it will tell you where to look for how to set up your archive.
