What is this bug? It looks like a cricket but, it is huge.

We keep finding bugs like this (or one who keeps sneaking back in) in our house. I have two pictures of it. It is a couple inches long, fairly thick and loud. It makes an ear piercing noise that lasts about a minute, but only a couple times a night.

Not a bug expert but right off the bat it looks like a walking leaf.

Response by poster: Thank you, although the noise in that video is not what these loud ass things make, the sound is nonstop for about a minute. If I can catch it make the noise, I will.

Looking further through that videos comments some are saying that is actually a tree cricket.

I do not like katydids, at all. I went to pick the damn thing off the floor, thinking it was a leaf, and it flew. That sent me screaming like I had lost my mind.

Best answer: SuzySmith, was it more like this? I started playing this video and my partner was like "Ugh, what is that awful noise?"
