Any tips for busking in Italy and Ocean City, NJ?

In the next few weeks, I will be spending time both in OCNJ and in Italy (Assisi and the Amalfi Coast). I hope to pick up some extra cash by busking, which I have done in the past. However, busking on the Ocean City boardwalk seem to be prohibited, or so says OCNJ's city hall. This brings several questions to mind. Are there any places to busk legally in OCNJ? If not, are there any places to safely busk illegally? Furthermore, any advice or tips for busking in Italy around where I'll be?

While buskers abound here in Piazza Navona & Campo dei' Fiori, I don't recall seeing any during my trips down to Amalfi. I couldn't tell you if that's due to non-tolerance by locals and/or police or the fact that my trips down there tend to be on the off-cusp of tourist season.

While Googling for applicable laws, I found that starting tomorrow there's a 5 day Busking festival in Pennabilli. This page offers slightly more information than I can about legalities; this might indicate that Amalfi laws still prohibit busking.

Buon viaggio!
