Just peachy.

Preserving fail! Many of my peach slices sorta disintegrated in the simple syrup I was going to can them in. They don't look like they're going to can so well. Is there any way to salvage them? Something else I can use them for? Anything??

They seemed suspiciously punky when I was slicing them, but I figured I'd go ahead with it anyway. Bad idea... should have just chopped them up and went for jam, I guess. As it is, they are floating in a pot with 30/70 simple syrup, so I'm past the point where jam is a possibility, I think.

Peach flavored simple syrup sounds like a great addition to a summer cocktail.

whiz it up in the blender and use it on pancakes, waffles, ice cream... you might be able to make some kind of sorbet or popsicle with it as well.

Response by poster: Thanks all.. I pureed the fruit and added a bit of vanilla, and my peach slices have been reborn as delicious peach sauce. I am saving the syrup for drinks and such.
