Music Filter: Trying to find composer and video for guitar ensemble which produced music 'that sounded like it came directly from hell"
I'm trying to track down the name of a composer who I read about a few years ago. He crowdsourced guitar players of all skill levels (via open audition calls, and newspaper adverts), and then created a guitar orchestra.
I remember seeing a video of one of the concerts on youtube and the cacophony was almost organic is it's LOUDNESS.
All I can distinctly remember is that one professional reviewer strongly felt that the composer was making music that felt like it came directly from hell.
Might have been a wired.com article, but my google fu and search fu is failing me on archives here and at wired and for google generally.
I'm beginning to fear I imagined it all - so does anyone know what I'm referring too?

Best answer: I'm guessing Glenn Branca, possibly Rhys Chatham?
Those are my two guesses too.

Best answer: More specifically: it's probably Chatham's "A Crimson Grail" but it could also be Branca's "Hallucination City."

Response by poster: WOW! that was fast and correct ! Even thought I didn't know it until now I was indeed thinking of Glen Branca and the "Hallucination City : Symphony for 100 Guitars." piece.
