Looking for article by a former high level MMORPG (World of Warcraft maybe?) who quit and is reflecting on the strangeness of having wasted so much time. Asking for a friend who's kid is getting more and more addicted to WoW.
This is an article I remember reading about a year ago or so. A guy had been playing this game a lot, and was a very high level player. He decided to quit and the article reflects his feelings about how odd it was that this thing that had been the central focus of his life now seemed so meaningless.
As I recall, he was also really surprised at how quickly the gamers he'd been so tight with moved on without him. Like he thought that all the raiding and so on that he'd been so central to would slow down, or come to a stop without him. Yet all his gamer partners he'd felt so close to just kind of moved on and continued their activities without him.

Response by poster: It's a good article Zophi, thanks, I'll bookmark it, but that's not the one I'm remembering.

I don't have the article, but when my husband was super addicted, he found WOWDetox to be very helpful.
