Looking for a Mac OS Lion-compatible alternative to avidemux

I'm looking for a Mac OS Lion-compatible alternative to avidemux, specifically for removing I-Frames (keyframes) from video files.

Mac OS Lion has broken avidemux on my computer, and while I wait for an update (possibly forever, as it's open source) I was wondering if there are any alternatives.

To be clear, I'm not looking for general recommendations of non-linear editors--I have those coming out my ears. What I need is one specific function: the ability to find and remove the I-Frames from video files. Avidemux allows me to skip to a keyframe, delete it, and then skip to the next. Is this function available in any other video software for the Mac?

(Yes, I use this for datamoshing, and yes, I'm ashamed of myself.)

Thank you!

I've come across aviglitch (github), which seems like it might be able to provide the effects that you need. I have no idea whether or not it will build on OS X 10.7, although it seems worth a try if you have XCode and related tools installed.

Response by poster: Thank you, pmugowsky. I should have mentioned that I use aviglitch (which removes the keyframes automatically) but am also looking for something that allows for more manual control like avidemux.

AndNeverWell: Are you looking for a GUI-based tool? It seems like you might be able to modify aviglitch_spec.rb or datamosh_spec.rb to take additional command-line arguments specifying which frames you want to delete. In frames.rb, in particular the method clear_keyframes, there is code that would be easily modified to delete the keyframe closest to a given playback position or frame number.

I'm not sure how this would fit into your workflow, however. Do you have any other software from which you could determine roughly the frame number of the keyframe you wish to remove? I can try to put together an example over the weekend, if it would be useful; I've been meaning to learn a bit of Ruby for a while.

Response by poster: That's a good point, pmugowsky. Yes, I'm looking for a GUI-based tool. I think I'd rather run avidemux in a Windows emulator than have to use one program to locate the frames and then tweak ruby to do the actual deletions.

(Thanks for your offer to modify aviglitch, but don't put yourself out on my account!)

I just tried this, and it works again: Fix Avidemux to Work on OS X Lion.
