Help me find this epistolary novel

Some years ago I read a novel about the relationship between a teacher and a student (two women). I'm sure the whole novel was in letter format. It's not "Landing" by Emma Donaghue. Any clues?

Are you thinking of Notes on a Scandal? Not epistolary, but it is written by one of the characters.

This is a long shot, and it's a novel of letters between a man and a girl, not two women--but could it be Sophie's World?
