Help Me See Where the Heck I'm Going

Is there a good solution for putting smartphone and its GPS in (preferably waterproof) view on my bike? My Google Fu is failing me.
As far as I'm concerned, the answer is "no." I really wanted to make this sort of thing work, but in the end it would just be a bulky kludge no matter what (particularly in light of the size and shape of the device and the need to operate it via touch screen). Your needs may be different than mine, however.
I broke down and bought a Garmin Edge 500.

Best answer: I saw this on TV and remembered it because I thought my sister might want one. Haven't tried it but it looked good.

I'm watching this thread with interest as I have wondered this myself. I own the mount that Runes links to--my experience is that the bumpy roads in my area overpower the foam on the arms and lead to the phone popping out at inopportune moments. Once I literally caught it as it escaped and saved it from otherwise certain destruction.
I keep trying to convince myself to get one of those cheap silicone cases and try again but I can't bring myself to risk it. YMMV. My phone now resides in my jersey pocket when I ride, which makes using it for navigation tricky but doable.

Response by poster: I'm thinking of the mount Runes suggests along with this case from the site stray thought suggested, and probably a couple of top/bottom mini bungees to make sure phone stays in place.
This is interesting too but beyond my abilities.

Best answer: For my HTC Desire I just use a generic cheap armband wrapped around the top tube. It feels nice and secure, the neoprene protects it from shocks.
