Horror anthology recommendations

I'm looking for various horror anthologies -- numerous writers with no overarching subject such as "Zombies!" or "Vampires!". I have enjoyed a few such as Foundation of Fear, Prime Evil, Revelations, and 999.

If you've no objection to comics, there's Four Color Fear: Forgotten Horror Comics of the 1950s.

Best answer: The Dark Descent should be right up your alley.

I really loved The Dark: New Ghost Stories, edited by Ellen Datlow. It has a bent toward ghost stories (hence the subtitle), but there's a really wide sampling of good stuff. There's one story in particular involving mirrors that really creeped me out.

Best answer: Poe's Children, edited by Peter Straub. New horror in a literary vein.

The Dark Descent. This one's more of a horror primer, but it's an extremely thick and well-assembled one.

Something like this or this will suit you quite well, I think.

A horror short story podcast, not a book, but should have a variety of authors and subgenres: PseudoPod.

Nthing Dark Descent - go for the hardcover, the paperback version was broken into separate volumes. Barnes & Noble put out a few decent little collections a few years back, with titles like 100 Ghastly Little Ghost Stories, 100 Hair Raising Horror Stories, 100 Wild Little Weird Tales, etc. that were much better than they needed to be.
