I need a quick and awesome reco for a Thai restaurant in LA for tonight! Anywhere near Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Century City, or downtown. Less than $30 per person. Casual attire.
poom thai in santa monica on lincoln doesn't look like much but is DELICIOUS and CHEAP - like $15 a person will get you MORE than enough yummy food and lots of leftovers!

I personally like Rambutan in Silver Lake. Nice combination of atmosphere and good food. Not as mega-authentic as Thai Town maybe but good stuff.

We are big fans of Thai Patio in Thai Town. But some purists prefer Ruen Pair, which is in the same mini-mall, and comes recommended by Jonathan Gold.

I strongly second Jitlada. Nothing else comes close in this town if you ask me but you must have a taste for spicy.

My sister got back from several months in Thailand. She tried Jitlada and said it was authentic.

Probably a bit late for this evening, but I'm a big fan of Galanga Thai in West Hollywood and Kinaree Thai Bistro at Fountain and La Brea.
God, I miss thai food.
