Things to do in Dallas when you are baby free for an evening

My wife and I will have an evening of baby free time in Dallas, what are some things we can do (other than just a fancy dinner) that takes advantage of this opportunity we haven't had in over 7 months?

We've not had a chance to get out much on our own since we don't have any family nearby, but during our visit, an aunt has offered to look after our little one while we go out. We'd like to do something we couldn't normally do with our baby.

Grown up movie. I seriously miss seeing movies on the big screen. Waiting until it's out on DVD sucks.

The new mom of a 9 month old here! Do something fun and cute like you would have done on a first date, like mini-golf or bowling! with alcohol and sexy flirting.

Go to 'Fuel City' taco's, southwest of downtown and have taco's outside near the field where they keep the longhorns. I heard about this place on Splendid Table (NPR) this afternoon and went there for dinner. It's amazingly good, cheap, and quite the experience. It's about as far from suburbia as you can get.

Failing Fuel City, why not walk the Katy Trail? Or hit some of the bars in Oak Lawn / Uptown?

Mom of two here! Haven't had a single free night in 4 years (I'm super jelly of you right now)!

My ideal sitch if we could ever find an over night sitter would be: picking up steaks for two, grilling them up with hubby, a movie to cuddle up with and some insane sexy time!

I know that's not for everyone, but I would a nice quiet evening at home with no kids, no mess and loud sex.

There was this recent thread about some things to do in Dallas. It is a bit heavy in food/drink recommendations.

Maybe hit up a show at the Granada if there happens to be someone good playing that night. If you have some control over which night you go out in the future (just missed it for May), the Dallas Museum of Art has Late Night Fridays on the third Friday of the month--open until midnight. There are a number of good restaurants that are within a reasonable distance of the museum.

This weekend, we had our first evening to ourselves in as long as we can remember and ended up both falling asleep in front of the TV. Which was pretty awesome - the treat was in being able to do that without having to worry. We woke up in time to make some noise, though ;-)

Don't put too much pressure on yourself to 'do something special'. Just enjoy each other's company doing whatever you do and be happy that you can do so without fear of interruption.

It sounds dreadfully mundane and suburban when I say it now, but I know when Ms. Steady and I had some baby-free time we loved going shopping. A leisurely stroll through the mall to browse the bookshops and try on clothes without the tiny pressure cooker that was our infant was divine. This has the added benefit that, if you find a decent mall, there is usually a passable grown-up style restaurant and movie theater attached, so you can squeeze those activities in as well, if you like.

Are you insane? Check into a great hotel room, order room service, get naked without worrying about the baby waking up, talk to each other about something other than when your baby last ate/pooped/cried and then take naps or just a really nice long shower. (Set an alarm, though.)

Comedy clubs are a good option (depending on who is playing).

It's sexy time.

Enjoy.

I think Dave and Buster's is in the area. Decent food, decent drinks, and grown-up arcade fun.

Or the Grapevine Mills mall has some cool stuff including a big movie theater.
