Looking for a movie based on a book written by a child author in the nineteenth century possible called 'the young travellors' [sic]

This was a story written by a young girl who was published and the book became well known in its time. A cute story about a girl who goes to live with another relative and ends up meeting the Queen [?]. Cant recall further details but would love to know the film and book name and find out more about it.Thanks!

Best answer: You are probably thinking of Daisy Ashford's The Young Visiters.

Incidentally, Mr Salteena would be a very fine Metafilter username.

And you probably no longer need me to say that the movie was a BBC adaptation (actually for TV, a one-off Christmas special in 2003), with Jim Broadbent and Hugh Laurie and just about every other well-known British character actor out there. It's on IMDB here.
